We love a good coffee event and there is perhaps no greater place on the entire world wide web to find out about the wide world of coffee events than the Sprudge Coffee Events Calendar. Be they throwdowns, educational gatherings, competitions, if coffee is what’s bringing people together it belongs on the Sprudge Coffee Events Calendar. And as we like to do from time to time, we’re taking a look at some of the events currently on the calendar. This time we’re focusing on the happenings between now and the end of September. Aug 21: The American AeroPress Championship
Friday night, August 21st in Boston, the American AeroPress Championship will bring together 36 Pressers of the Aero for a night of plunging. Hosted by Atomic Coffee and taking place at Big Night Live, this event decides who will represent the US at the World AeroPress Championship in Mexico City later this year in December. Spectator tickers are just $15 and are on sale now.
Aug 27: Women in Coffee
Presented by Olympia Coffee, Women in Coffee is a “gathering for women across the coffee industry to come together, connect, share ideas, celebrate one another, and build the kind of community that helps all of us grow.” Taking place at Cedar Hall in Seattle, the event will feature talks from industry leaders including Anita Tam (Slow Pour Supply), Laila Gambari (USBC Champion and owner of Guilder Coffee), Sarah Dooley (Beanz), and Cait Rifkin (Tiny Sidecar). It’s completely free to attend, but an RSVP is required, which can be made here.
Aug 28: The Comandante Championship China
Who’s the best brewer, really? That’s what The Comandante Championship looks to get to the bottom of. Taking place at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing as part of Cafe Show China, The Comandante Championship pits competitors against one another, using the exact same coffee and same gear, Comandante hand grinder included, with the winner taking home the coveted golden C40 hand grinder.
Sep 29: Free Comp Capp at Klatch Coffee
September 29th is National Coffee Day so you know there’s going to be a lot of events going on. And what better way to celebrate than with a free cappuccino? And not just any cappuccino, a competition cappuccino. Taking place across all their Southern California locations, Klatch Coffee is offering a free competition cappuccino designed by two-time USBC champion and co-owner Health Perry. Sep 29-30: Current Coffee Summit
Taking place at First Crack Coffee in St. Louis, Current Coffee Summit is a gathering of coffee professionals looking to “share ideas, challenge convention, and shape the future of the industry.” Diving into the state of coffee now and what the future holds, discussion topics include batch espresso, automation, drive-thru, matcha and tea, branding and marketing, and retail and customer experience. Tickets for Current Coffee Summit are available for $250 and can be purchased via the website.
Sept 29-30: Caffe Culture Show
Across the pond in London, the Caffe Culture Show is two days of exhibits, coffee talks, and oh so much coffee. Taking place at the Business Design Centre, the Caffe Culture Show brings in over 120 exhibitors, 12 roasters to sample drinks from, a cupping village, and multiple discussions led by industry leaders from around the UK.
