Hey, what’s the big idea?! Well, that’s for you to decide, and Oatly may just fund it. The oat milk brand is looking to fund sustainability projects from small, US-based coffee businesses via their Big Idea Grant for Coffee program, and there’s still time to submit your big idea for consideration.
For year two of the Big Idea Grant for Coffee, Oatly is going even bigger. The company has committed up to of $400,000 in potential total grant funding this year’s batch of grant recipients. So what sort of big ideas is Oatly looking for? Winning ideas in the past have been more grand in scope, like rethinking fair pay across the coffee supply chain, and they have been more small scale, like moving a cafe to be fully solar powered.
The goal, according to Oatly, is to “help pursue strategies, projects, and innovative ideas” that can then be implemented more broadly in hopes of creating a more sustainable future for coffee and the world at large. Even small ideas can have a big impact.
So if you are a small coffee company in the United States and you’ve got ideas on building a more sustainable world, Oatly wants to hear about them. You’ve got until October 28th to submit your own idea for consideration. To apply, head over to Oatly’s website and fill out the form explaining who you are and what you want to do. The company will then select their favorites to fund, with announcements being made in December.
