2025 is the Year of the Moka Pot. Already this year we’ve seen the Moka Pot go automated and the Moka Pot go high concept (and price tag), we’ve even seen it make a cameo in a Super Bowl commercial. Unfortunately 2025 has also brought news that Bialetti, the century-old brand behind the Moka Pot, has been sold to a Hong Kong investment firm.
So you can buy the sad vestiges of a once mighty Italian icon, and it will make you a cup of coffee sure. But what it can never make for you, not in a million years, is cu-caw-ffee. For that you need the Crowka Pot, which is live on Kickstarter now.
What exactly is the Crowka Pot I’m sure you are wondering. Well, according to the Kickstarter, “The Crowka Pot is a moka pot shaped like a crow.” Seems straightforward enough. Now, why is the Crowka Pot? Which is perhaps a more interesting question. To which I say, I don’t know who cares, shut up don’t worry about it.
Designed by Adrian Campbell in Durham, North Carolina, the Crowka Pot is made of 304 stainless steel that has been “soft mold wax casted” and polished to a mirror finish. All jokes aside—and there are many, many terrible puns on the Kickstarter (we’ve got some better ones for you)—it actually looks pretty cool. First off, which I’m sure you’e noticed by now, it looks like a crow, and crows are smart and cool. If you befriend a crow by giving it little treats, it will return the favor. And the little treat this shiny crow will reliably bring you is a coffee.
Which brings me to my second point, it makes coffee. Coffee that pours from its beak, like it was baby-birding you an espresso. But to quote Edgar Allan Spro’s classic poem, “Quoth the Raven: Never pour (hot espresso down your gullet).” What more could you possibly want to know?
With a little over three weeks left in the campaign, the Crowka Pot has already flown past its $8,000 goal. But still there rewards aplenty. Currently you can snag one for yourself for just $100, $20 off the retail price. Rewards are expecting to ship out starting in September.
So if you’re looking to take your Moka Pot game to new heights, stop crowin’ and start ravin’, about the Crowka Pot. For more information, visit the Crowka Pot’s official website.
