This week, Oakland’s modern Italian coffee house The Caffè by Mr. Espresso introduces the “The Bussdown” Marshmallow Candied Yam Latte created by Chef Michael Woods of Bussdown Delivery Oakland as part of The Caffè’s ongoing chef collaboration series. The drink is available now through Saturday, March 23, 2024.

“The Bussdown” is inspired by Chef Woods’ Pan-African roots and the soul food he brings to the Oakland community through his business. The latte is made with roasted sweet potato puree–contrived of dark brown sugar, allspice, berbere, cinnamon, and cayenne all from Oaktown Spice Shop–topped with toasted marshmallow cream. The process is a pure display of talent, and one Chef Woods and The Caffè are so excited to share with visitors.
As with all of the chef collaborations at The Caffè, 10% of sales of this drink will go to Oakland’s Community Kitchens.
