Situated inside the historic Starland Theatre building on the corner of North Broadway and Workman, the new cafe marks Stumptown’s official return to Los Angeles proper, bringing its signature retail cafe experience and regional training space under one roof as a neighborhood anchor.

Since opening its first cafe in Portland in 1999, Stumptown has built spaces designed to reflect and honor the communities they call home. The new Lincoln Heights venue continues this philosophy, anchoring a walkable pedestrian corridor while preserving the character of one of LA’s oldest neighborhoods through adaptive reuse. Key restoration highlights include the preservation of the historic theater façade and original terrazzo flooring, creating a welcoming gathering space rooted in local architectural heritage.

Stumptown will celebrate its official public grand opening on Saturday, August 29. Alongside their full menu of classic offerings, the cafe will serve exclusive, limited-edition launch beverages (Passion Fruit Espresso Tonic and Horchata Cold Foam Shakerato), and feature custom Starland merchandise created for the opening.
