The Specialty Coffee Association‘s annual tradeshow, the SCA Expo, was originally scheduled for this week and weekend in Portland, Oregon. The physical event is now canceled, but here’s some good news: SCA Expo is now happening online. SCA is calling it #ExpoWeekend and #ExpoSeason, a concept teased this new event late last week Friday. This morning the full schedule dropped including lecture tracks, Workshop previews, and a fun lineup of Barista Guild activities. Did we mention international coffee DJs? An Expo Digi-Party???
From the SCA:
Thursday through Saturday will have 15 different Lectures featuring speakers from the Portland Lectures track, and introductory looks at upcoming SCA Workshops. On Sunday, the Barista Guild will be presenting a day of fun and community, including international coffee DJs for you to get your digital dance on.
Online lectures over #ExpoWeekend happen Thursday, April 30 through Saturday, May 2, with sessions running from 11:00am EDT – 7:00pm EDT. There’s something for everyone: talks on the SCA’s Price Crisis Response initiative, online coffee competitions, and a number of business webinars. The full schedule is available here.
On Sunday, May 3rd the Barista Guild is throwing a big cyber afterparty that offers digital yoga classes, games, and “other fun rooms” (hopefully this includes some kind of lip-synching room). Music and gathering from 1:00pm to 8:00pm EDT. More information to come—visit their website for the latest.
