No one likes burning their mouth on coffee that’s still too hot to drink. There are a few ways around the problem. You could kick it old school and spend decades inuring your tongue to daily heat abuse. You could buy a mug that’s got Bluetooth and AI probably to hold it at a specific temperature. You could Nékojita FuFu.
But if FuFu is not for you-you (in which case you are definitely on the wrong website), there are less cute options.  If you need a little techie with brekkie, there’s the S137M, a non-contact infrared thermometer for your coffee and tea. And it’s live on Kickstarter now.
So how is the S137M different than a standard infrared temperature gun? Well, it’s smaller for one, around the size of a pocket watch. And it is designed specifically to use with hot beverages. In this case, that means color-coded lights in the thermometer that illuminate the cup based on the temperature: red for too hot, yellow for almost ready, green for ready to roll, and blue for once it has cooled.
It also has an audible alert for once your drink has reached the ideal temperature, which can be customized to match your personal preferences. The  S137M features a digital display, can toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, and is rechargeable, so no batteries required.
With over three weeks left in the campaign, the S137M is still early in its funding, needing to meet almost all the $23,000 goal. But interested parties can help chip away at it $29 at a time, thanks to a super early bird reward that will net you one contactless thermometer and charging cable. Should the campaign make, rewards will begin shipping out in February of 2026.
What I want to know is: is there a way for Nékojita FuFu to hold the S137M, thus cooling down my coffee while also letting me know the temperature. This is the ideal use case.
