New York City Legend Taylor Mead Passes Away At 88

News broke this afternoon of the passing of Taylor Mead, “the Warhol “superstar,” Beat poet, stray-cat feeder and sweet face and voice of an era” who died yesterday at the age of 88, “taking a large slice of Lower Manhattan’s cultural history with him.”

Taylor recited songs, poetry, and told stories at the Bowery Poetry Club before its closure last year. If you’ve never seen it, his scene in  Coffee & Cigarettes closes that film, and is well worth your six minutes.
