This weekend, the final Qualifying Events for the US Coffee Championships take place in the greater Washington, DC area, placing the competitors for the last three disciplines: Brewers Cup, Coffee in Good Spirits, and Latte Art. They join the winners from Houston’s Qualifying Event a few weeks back for the Barista Championship, Roasters Championship, and Cup Tasters. And now, we know where the national round of competition will be taking place, for three of the events at least.
Announced via Instagram on Wednesday, January 31st, the US chapter of the Specialty Coffee Association officially made public that the 2024 US Barista Championship, Brewers Cup, and Cup Tasters will be heading to Rancho Cucamonga, California between March 15th and 17th. 40 miles east of Los Angeles, the three events will be hosted by Klatch Coffee’s SCA-certified Lab and Roasting Facility.
Those familiar with coffee competition will no doubt know the Klatch name as well as their Rancho Cucamonga roastery. The company has produced multiple champions across a variety of disciplines, including 2003 and 2007 US Barista Champion Heather Perry, 2014 and 2016 Brewers Cup Champion Todd Goldsworthy, and 2019 Coffee in Good Spirits Champion Matt Foster. And the Rancho Cucamonga lab previously hosted a 2018 preliminary round for the Barista Championship and Brewers Cup events.
