Around this time last year, it was announced that the 2027 World Brewers Cup would be taking place in Bogota, Colombia as part of the South American stop for the SCA’s World of Coffee event series. And the WBrC won’t be the only competition decided then as the 2027 World Cup Tasters Championship was recently announced to also be taking place at WoC Bogota.
Announced late last week, World Cup Tasters is the second coffee competition to be hosted at the fifth World of Coffee event in 2027. Taking place September 30th through October 2nd, it marks the second consecutive year the World Cup Tasters Championship has been held in a producing country, following the 2026 event in Thailand.
“Colombia’s influence on coffee reaches far beyond its borders. Bringing two World Coffee Championships to Bogotá gives us an opportunity to celebrate that contribution alongside competitors and coffee professionals from around the world,” states SCA CEO Yannis Apostolopoulos. “Coffee consumption in producing countries is one of the most exciting developments in our industry right now. When the people who grow coffee also become its most engaged consumers, it shifts the conversation around quality, equity, and value. Events like this are part of how that momentum grows.”
With the announcement, the date and location for all seven 2027 World Coffee Championship events have now been set.
World Roasters Championship in New Orleans in early April, Barista Championship in Tokyo in late April, Latte Art, Coffee in Good Spirts, and Cezve/Ibrik in Lisbon in June, and now Brewers Cup and Cup Tasters in Bogota in September.
