If you live in Melbourne and pour art into lattes, then you may want to get the โ€œBig Effinโ€™ TNTNโ€ on Friday at the newly opened Specialist Espresso. The throwdown will be the first chance for many to see and test-drive the new Slayer Steam espresso machine. Oh yeah, and the winner takes home a Slayer one-group espresso machine with $1,000 to put towards customization, a Compak K10 Fresh grinder, and $2,500 cash.

Second through fourth place prizes arenโ€™t too shabby either, taking home $1,500, $1,000, and $500 cash, respectively. All you have to do is beat out 127 other latte artists trying to earn the same prize in what has to be one of the largest throwdowns in the known universe.

To plough through a field this big in anything under a weekโ€™s time, the throwdown will consist of four separate brackets of 32 baristas competing simultaneously, with the top three competitors from each bracket making it to the finals. They will be joined by four โ€œwild-cardโ€ baristas who were scored as having the best pours of the night. Those 16 will decide who goes home with a crazy ridiculous prize package and who gets fifth place, earning the right to be โ€œdrunkest person in Australiaโ€ for the night.

Sponsored by Slayer, Compak, and The Coffee Man, the Big Effinโ€™ TNTN is a means of introducing Australia to the Slayer Steam, the companyโ€™s sexy new Jetsons-looking espresso machine. For those not competing or uninterested stylish high-volume espresso machines, there will be hourly door prizes, food trucks, and craft beer and wine.

The event starts at 7:00pm and itโ€™s free to come hang, but it cost $20 to compete. Spots are extremely limited (like, there were only five out of 128 left as of writing this), so sign up here for your chance to compete and do it now. For more information, check out the event page on the Slayer website.
