If there’s one truism for the US leg of the World of Coffee née SCA Expo, it’s that La Marzocco knows how to throw one hell of a party. (There are other truisms of course, but they’re mostly related to having too many espressos and getting the bubble guts.) And the streak holds this year in San Diego with yet another rager from the espresso machine manufacturer, this one with a yacht rock theme.

Yes, yacht rock, the once-maligned late-‘70s/early-‘80’s genre of easily listening rock music that has in the past few years risen beyond the level of ironic enjoyment to something more like oh these dudes can actually play. Whether you attribute it to Hall & Oates or the HBO documentary Yacht Rock, the genre is experiencing a resurgence.

And La Marzocco’s Nautical Groove: A Coffee Party is all about it. Taking place Saturday, April 11th at San Diego’s Bloom Nightclub, the shindig will feature a soundtrack of smooth yacht rock hits and more than a few captain’s hats. Really it’s just a way to let loose a little after a full day in a convention center, but it’s also a pretty good excuse to rock a neck scarf and who can be mad about that?

Due to San Diego’s recent crackdown, Nautical Groove is strictly a 21+ event. For those who are of age, La Marzocco’s afterparty is completely free to attend. RSVPs are appreciated and can be made here, which will also sign you up to receive more information about the party as it is made available.

So bone up on your Steely Dan, Toto, and Kenny Loggins—not like you’ll need to because they are instantly recognizable—and get ready for an incredible night of dulcet tones and feel good vibes. The yachts start a-rockin’ promptly at 8:00pm Saturday, April 11th at Bloom Nightclub at 919 Fourth Avenue, #suite 100. For more information, visit the Nautical Groove: A Coffee Party Eventbrite page.
