We’re rounding out the last few weeks of the 2024 Build-Outs of Coffee feature series with a return to Georgia. The Peach State has unexpectedly been a major focus of this year’s series, with multiple major new cafes opening or under construction in and around the Atlanta area. Let’s take a look at one more: this is Prevail Coffee, a gorgeous new coffee bar in Atlanta, GA.
The 2024 Build-Outs of Coffee is presented by Ceado and Dona. The 2024 Build-outs of Coffee is sponsored by Pacific Barista Series, La Marzocco, Acaia, and Ghirardelli.
As told to Sprudge by Drew Duvall.
For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company?
Prevail has been around since 2015. We’re based in Montgomery, AL and just moved into an exciting new roastery. We try our best to respect and honor the years of hard work put into growing something a lot of people take for granted.
Can you tell us a bit about the new space?
We partnered with Allen Morris to develop a community coffee shop that shares a space with the Bryn House Apartment lobby. It’s a lush green space with huge glass walls and a large patio space perfect for southern falls and springs. We’re on a mission to become a quality connector for authentic community. What is especially exciting about this space is we’re going with a new concept and we’re honored to have our long time friend and industry veteran Almisha Tobler running the space as an owner/operator. She helped us open our shop in the Star Metals district back in 2020.
What’s your approach to coffee?
It’s fun and encouraging to look across the industry and see so many great people putting in the work, getting dirt under their nails and coffee grounds in their callouses, but also paying attention to each stakeholder. Our approach is no different—it’s the people and the details.
Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up?
La Marzocco KB90, Brood, Marco Cold/Hot/Sparkling Tap
How is your project considering sustainability?
We focus on our economies of scale to make eco-friendly purchases for the same price as cafe-level purchases. For any shop on our delivery routes, we use re-usable containers.
What’s your hopeful target opening date/month?
We just opened early summer this year.
Are you working with craftspeople, architects, and/or creatives that you’d like to mention?
We partnered closely with Allen Morris to design the space.
Thank you!
Big shout out to the work everyone is doing in the industry right now.
