It’s been a long road back for the humble coffee event. COVID-19 brought to a screeching halt all manner of coffee gathering, be they large multi-day mega fests or smaller, community-driven DIY shindigs, and without much in the way of momentum to carry them, coffee events have been slow to reemerge.

Regardless of how you feel about the pandemic actually being over, we’ve reached a point of new normality with cautious optimism and connection and a return to form for coffee events. For what feels like the first time in a long time, the coffee calendar is full, extremely full, and so we are looking at some of the more exciting events on the Sprudge Coffee Events Calendar taking place around the globe over the course of the next month.

A Feast of Fests

Who doesn’t look a big coffee foofaraw? Bring together under one roof all the best coffee roasters and cafes within a city, state, or country even, and you’re bound to have a good time. Colorado just held their Coffee Show, Ljubljana, Slovenia has one next weekend, and Austin the weekend after. Then there’s Coffee Fest Minneapolis in October followed by Pittsburgh Coffee Week. North, south, east, or west, wherever you are, a coffee fest.

Learning Events

At the other end of the coffee gathering spectrum is the learning event. There’s so much to learn about coffee, and the learning opportunities currently on the calendar express that diversity. There’s Development Stage from Royal Coffee, that takes an interdisciplinary approach to better understanding different aspects of coffee. There’s RE:BLOOM, the SCA’s revived community-focused series that explores a wide range of topics about the coffee supply chain via talks and panel discussions. And for the roasters, there’s a retreat in Michigan and a workshop in Chicago.

Consumer-Driven Experiences

Like with festivals, consumer-driven experiences offer folks on the other side of the counter a chance to learn more and taste new and exciting coffees. But unlike festivals, these events are often smaller and more intimate, allowing for more hands-on training and instruction. Klatch Coffee is offering “The Empire Experience” to allow attendees a chance to taste some of their latest offerings. And in Austin, Dona is hosting not one but two different tea tastings, one at Houndstooth and the other at Violet Crown.

These are but a sampling of the many, many exciting coffee events coming into view over the horizon. There are surely even more to come, and you can stay up to date on them over at the Sprudge Coffee Event Calendar.
