I don’t know a whole lot about fashion—most of my clothes come from coffee shops or swag giveaways at trade shows. I do know that, generally, fashion is about having good taste. Now what constitutes “good” I have no idea (I hope it’s coffees tees). But if there’s one thing I know that tastes good, it’s tiramisu, and that seems about as good a starting point as any to understanding fashion. Thus, tiramisu purse, a new statement piece for your wardrobe that is exactly what it sounds like.

What is there to say about tiramisu purse? Well for one, it’s a purse, a transparent one, so that everyone can see its contents. Which is tiramisu, the classic Italian dessert of espresso, lady fingers, and mascarpone cream. Why tiramisu purse? To enjoy a delicious treat on a commercial flight of course. (Pairing it with an onboard espresso presumably.) As reported by Food & Wine, the trend began with content creator and trained baker Shelly Bella but really took off, quite literally, when pistachio spread company Pistakio created a pistachio version of their own, which they were then successfully able to take aboard an Alaska Airlines flight as a carry on. The video on Instagram has been viewed nearly 25 million times, with another over 6 million coming from their TikTok.

With tiramisu purse, I think I am starting to gain a better grasp of fashion. It’s espresso couture, a thought-provoking blend of form and function. It’s high fashion, or at least fashion for when you’re high. Alas we live in a regressive society where a man such as myself cannot freely carry a purse, tiramisu or otherwise, without being subject to the hungry stares of passersby. Perhaps there is a more appropriate statement piece for me, a tiramisu fanny pack perhaps or an affogato briefcase or a coffee cake satchel. Honestly, I’d settle for a scone wallet.
