The Week In Coffee Diaries: Dallis Bros Coffee’s John Moore was sent to Burundi to participate in the first-ever Cup of Excellence and has documented his adventures in an excellent diary series; FRSHGRND’s Aaron Fray updated his blog with a review of Malmö’s Te och Kaffehuset; Square Mile’s James Hoffman writes about his thoughts on the term “Third Wave.”

Let’s Talk Coffee In Colombia: Next month, your Sprudge editors are off on an epic coffee travel adventure starting with Medellin, Colombia! We’re super pleased to have been invited by Sustainable Harvest to take part in this year’s Let’s Talk Coffee conference, one of the largest annual events for promoting direct relationships between producers, roasters, and everyone in-between. Not only are we attending, we’ll be conducting a live interview panel titled “The Next Generation: Entrepreneurship and Experimentation In North American Cafes.” Should be exciting stuff. Obviously, we’ll provide you with exclusive live coverage of the whole event, which happens October 4th-7th. Stayed tuned!

MANE In Providence: Next, the fourth-annual Mid-Atlantic Northeast Coffee Conference (MANE) takes place in Providence, Rhode Island next month, and is headed east to hold a live interview panel at the event. The panel, titled “Retail Therapy: Innovative Ideas in an Evolving Economy,” will be one of many presented by an impressive list of individuals if we do say so ourselves, including Square Mile Coffee Roaster’s James Hoffman, who will be the keynote speaker. The event will be hosted by Providence’s New Harvest Coffee Roasters and takes place October 12th-14th.

The Blend Is The Beginning Is The Blend: Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan’s hotly anticipated tea house has finally opened in Chicago last week. Called Madame ZuZu’s, the new space features Intelligentsia coffee and teas. Definitely worth adding to your coffee crawl list if you’re ever in the Windy City, have a penchant for the suburbs, or still hold a candle for Zwan.

Sprudge At Barista Nation LA: Your tireless editors are at this very moment in sunny Anaheim, California to attend Barista Nation LA! The day’s set to be packed full with a roasting presentation, a keynote address from Peter Guiliano, a discussion featuring WBC winner Mike Phillips, and various panels, including one that we’re totally on the hook for. Sprudge will DJ the after-party and a whole lot of dancing and drinking will ensue. Follow @BaristaNation on Twitter for updates, and watch for live coverage here on!

SF Block Party Bonanza Follow-Up: After weeks of anticipation for SF’s Coffee Bar & Scoutmob’s Block Party Bonanza, we are proud to have attended and survived. Ribs were eaten, latte art was poured!
