It’s mid-October, which means you should have started thinking about everything you need to do in December, like yesterday. Don’t get me wrong, December is a great time of year. There’s a chill in the air, there are so many holidays that involve eating lots of really good food, and you get to catch up with friends and family. It’s all great, but it’s just… a lot.

One way to take a little bit off your year-end plate—to make room for seconds—is to get your coffee affairs in order now. And as luck would have it, specialty coffee brands from around the world are currently taking pre-orders for their coffee advent calendars. There are options aplenty, whether you’re a filter fan, a spro bro, or a Joe on the go, there is a coffee advent calendar that falls squarely in your wheelhouse.

And so today we are taking a look at some of our favorite coffee advent calendars for 2024. As a bonus, if you pre-order yours now, that’ll give you a month and a half to completely forget you did and then what a surprise it’ll be when it arrives in December. A little treat for Future You.

Norway’s Kaffebox is hands down one of my favorite subscription services around. So it makes sense that a year-round coffee curator could also put together a really exciting advent calendar. In keeping with their light-roasted filter bent, Kaffebox’s advent feature 12 of the best Scandinavian roasters, each providing two different coffees in 50g increments. This year’s list of roasters include Coffee Collective, Jacu, Gringo, Kafferaven, and Fuglen, just to name a few.

And because freshness is key, the Kaffebox advent calendar comes in two separate shipments, the first batch of 12 coffees shipping out on November 14th and the second batch a week later.

The Kaffebox Scandinavian Specialty Coffee Advent retails for 1,995 NOK ($188USD).

Part of the fun of the advent calendar is the surprise. While brewing a new coffee provides a certain level of anticipation in and of itself, not knowing what you’re getting into until you’ve brewed it doubles down on the fun. And that’s what Neon Coffee Roasters advent calendar brings. Containing 12 different single origin coffees—64g of each—the identity of each of the coffees will be revealed online, along with tasting videos, the day it is meant to be prepared, creating an interactive experience lasting the entire month.

The Neon Coffee Roasters advent calendar sells for $103 and will start shipping out in mid- to late-November.

24 coffees is certainly a lot. What if you want less? You know, you still want something special but you want to spend some time getting to know the coffees a little better. How very Danish. For you, there is Coffee Collective’s Advent Calendar. In Denmark, the advent is a weekly as opposed to daily affair, and the Copenhagen roaster’s box set reflects that. Feature four different bags—two with 150g and two with 200g—Coffee Collective’s box set is filter-forward and is comprised of “four exquisite surprise single origin coffee.” Like with Neon, the identity of each coffee won’t be revealed until the start of the week on Sunday (but you can sneak a peek if you really want to, but where’s the fun in that).

The Coffee Collective Advent Calendar sells for 800DKK ($116 USD) and begins shipping November 26th.
