On December 19th, Portland’s Deadstock Coffee announced via Instagram that it would be shuttering its original location after 10 years. This news did not impact Deadstock’s thriving cafe in nearby Beaverton, Oregon, which opened in 2024. Articles were written about what the closure meant for sneaker culture in the city and for businesses in Old Town in general.
It was all very sad, but the sadness was short-lived, and less than two weeks later, Deadstock announced they would be moving into The Hoxton Hotel around the corner from the original location.

Per the December 31st press release, the new Deadstock location inside the Hoxton is expected to open sometime this spring, in early March. The sneaker cafe will be the second local business to open up inside the hotel, after Pamana, a restaurant opened in 2025 from Ethan and Geri Leung, the husband and wife duo behind the popular Portland Filipino food cart Baon Kainan.
“2025 marks a decade of dope for the Deadstock brand, and thankfully we can continue to do what we do in Portland,” Williams states. “Being at The Hoxton in Portland means we can become even more of a creative community hub. I’m excited about the opportunities that are ahead to do more local gatherings including coffee and sneaker education, as well as to serve visitors to Portland and potentially be able to bring the Deadstock experience to other cities.”

So it appears the reports of Deadstock’s demise were indeed premature. The Beaverton location remains alive and well and the original Old Town cafe isn’t even leaving the block. For more information, visit Deadstock Coffee on Instagram.
