Mahlkönig has been making moves to enter into the home market, most notably with their very good X54 all-purpose grinder (that really shines with espresso). And now the renowned grinder manufacturer is making the ambitious leap into the world of home espresso machines with the all new Mahlkönig Xenia.
The groundwork for their first espresso machine was laid earlier this year, when Mahlkönig’s parent company the Hemro Group acquired Germany espresso machine manufacturer Xenia. Debuted last week at Host Milan, the single-group machine features a dual boiler system, pressure profiling, flow and temperateure controls, an integrated scales, and Grind-by-Sync integration capabilities. The steam wand is able to deliver “up to 1.8 bars of pressure—50% more than most home machines.”

Along with the Xenia, Mahlkönig announced their next home espresso grinder, the E64 WS Home, “which connects directly to the espresso machine and brings Mahlkönig’s industry-leading Grind-by-Sync and Grind-by-Weight technology to home baristas for the first time.”
The Mahlkönig Xenia is expected to be released by the end of the year. The price has yet to be announced, but before the acquisition Xenia espresso machines between $2,500 and $3,000.
