You’re still bathing in the Expo afterglow. You saw new things, you got to hang with old friends, and your coffee battery has officially been recharged. So you want to keep the party rolling. Luckily the Sprudge Coffee Events Calendar is chock full of happenings ready and waiting for you. There are events large and small and they are taking place across the globe.
To whet your whistle, we’re looking at some of the cool coffee events listed on the Sprudge Events Calendar taking place over the next two months. These are but a sample of what is in store, so make sure you check out the calendar for the full roster of events.
May 15: World of Coffee Jakarta
What better way to follow up one global trade show than with another? World of Coffee Asia debuted last year in Busan, where it hosted the 2024 World Barista Championship, won by none other than Indonesia’s Mikael Jasin. And as luck would have it, WoC Asia is headed to his own backyard, to Jakarta. Taking place May 15th through 17th, World of Coffee Jakarta will host hundreds of coffee companies and their latest and greatest, lectures, learning opportunities, and even the World Brewers Cup.
May 15: Olympia Coffee Throwdown
Maybe you’re looking for something a little more homegrown in your coffee events. For that there’s the Olympia Coffee Throwdown. Taking place May 15th at Olympia’s Rainier Ave cafe in Seattle, this latte art battle is a “home edition,” meaning competitors will have to use “home espresso machine products by Breville, Baratza, and Lelit.” Doors open at 5:30pm, with the first pout taking place at 6:00pm. The buy-in is $20, with $5 raffle tickets going to support Mary’s Place. Attendance is free.
May 17: Cata Latina
The Crown, Royal Coffee’s Oakland tasting lab is offering a pretty unique cupping experience. Taking place May 17th at 2:00pm, Cata Latina is a cupping created specifically for the Latin community and will be undertaken completely in Spanish. Three coffees will be tasted over the course of the event and will be an exercise to explore the flavors and expressions of coffee in Spanish.
June 14: Welcome to Summer Party
Summer is Texas is hot, some would say too hot, but that’s never stopped a Texan from having a good time. And in Amarillo on June 14th, Palace Coffee is welcoming in the excruciatingly hot months with an all-out Welcome To Summer Party. There will be a throwdown, food trucks, music, and local vendors. And the best part is, it’s completely free to attend. It all gets going at 6:00pm and lasts until question mark question mark question mark (read: 10:00pm).
June 26: World of Coffee Geneva
The world of coffee is wide and it cannot be contained by just one event. That’s why World of Coffee is making one more stop in 2025, this time heading to Europe for a three-day jag in Geneva, Switzerland. More than 13,000 attendees are expected between June 26th and 28th at the event, to peruse the over 400 exhibitors and sample coffees from the 120 roasters in the Roaster’s Village. And oh will there ever be competitions. The World Latte Art Championship, World Coffee in Good Spirits, World Cup Tasters, and the World Cezve/Ibrik Championship will all be taking place in Geneva this year.
