Accademia Del Caffe Espresso Is Dropping Coffee Facts, A New Educational Series

There is so much to learn about coffee. You could devote your entire life to one single aspect of it and still not even scratch the surface. It’s part of what makes coffee so great but also sometimes frustrating. And where to even begin? That’s why Accademia del Caffe Espresso, La Marzocco’s Florence-based coffee museum and education center, has created Coffee Facts. The new series takes a deep dive on what it takes to go from a plant to a finished cup of coffee.

Over the course of 16 topics, Coffee Facts will tell the story of coffee, beginning with its life on a farm and ending in the cup. Drawing upon their near 100 years in coffee, La Marzocco will examine how things like variety, climate, soil, cultivation methods, and processing impact a coffee as well as consumption-side factors including roasting and brewing.

The 16 topics will be delivered in four chapters: Understanding Coffee, From Farm to Bean, Brewing Better Espresso, and Understanding the Cup.

Chapter 1 begins at origin, in the Coffee Belt. It all starts with the seed. Accademia will dive into the two primary species of coffee produced, Arabica and robusta, and how each are “shaped by different altitudes, microclimates, and genetics, bringing something quite distinctive to the cup.” They’ll also look at one Arabica variety in particular, Gesha, that has more or less become a synonym for rare and high-end in the specialty coffee world.

Chapters will be released in the coming weeks across Accademia del Caffe Espresso’s various channels. For more information or to check out of some of the teaser videos, visit Accademia del Caffe Espresso’s Instagram page.
