Build-Outs of Coffee is an international affair, and over the last 14 years we’ve profiled cafes in more than 30 countries from across six continents (someone please open a good cafe in Antarctica). One destination we come back to again and again is Barcelona, home of one of the world’s great world cafe cultures serving a thriving scene of coffee lovers around the world.
Here in the early innings of the 2025 Build-Outs season, our thoughts turn to Poblenou, one of the trendiest neighborhoods in the city, and home to a brand new caef called Osom Nou. Let’s dive in.
The 2025 Build-Outs of Coffee is sponsored by Pacific Barista Series, La Marzocco, Ceado, and Dona.
As told to Sprudge by Francisco Catán.
For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company?
Our mission is to offer the best specialty coffee, exploring its unique flavors ,and complementing it with a healthy and organic menu, in a designed, eclectic, and sustainable environment. Building a community of peers and living free from labels.
Can you tell us a bit about the new space?
Our new space is located at Barcelona’s trendiest neighborhood, Poblenou, where design, creativeness, and the beach conform to the perfect balance.
Seeking to harmonize our space with the neighborhood, we designed a minimalist space where every detail is thoughtful. We chose honest materials, such as stainless steel, wood, and cement.
What’s your approach to coffee?
We are a specialty coffee shop that roasts its own coffee. We purchase green beans from the most select distributors in Europe and roast them ourselves, ensuring the quality of every cup we serve.
Any machines, coffees, special equipment lined up?
We are using a La Marzocco KB90 for our espressos and lattes, and Moccamaster and V60 for our filters.
Our coffees are continuously changing.
How is your project considering sustainability?
We take sustainability very seriously. We carefully separate all the waste generated during our service, making recycling easier.
What’s your hopeful target opening date/month?
We opened in January 2025.
Are you working with craftspeople, architects, and/or creatives that you’d like to mention?
All the design was made by ourselves.
Thank you!
Thank you too!
