We love a new Chicago coffee shop, but you know what we really love? A new Chicago coffee shop with a community mission to provide barista training and support to teens looking to gain workforce skills. Atmos Coffee Shop is doing just that—and then some—and they’re our latest feature in the 2021 Build-Outs of Coffee series.
As told to Sprudge by Antoine Scott.
For those who aren’t familiar, will you tell us about your company?
We are a friendly and comfortable specialty coffee shop where customers can enjoy specialty coffee, tea and pastries at an affordable cost. We have a heart for our local community and always look for opportunities to partner with local businesses, not for profit organizations, and community groups. Additionally, we provide a free barista training program for local youth (ages 15-17) equipping them with a skillset that can be used for employment in the coffee industry. Great coffee and community impact and empowerment are our focus and the cornerstone of the brand’s success.
Can you tell us a bit about the new space?
Our space is 1,000 square feet decorated with minimal yet cozy and inviting décor, seating, and tables. We play lofi hip hop and latin. You truly feel like you stepped into a different ATMOSphere when you visit.
What’s your approach to coffee?
We approach coffee as an art and carefully craft every drink.
