Blueprint Coffee Releases Timespan, A Dark Roast Specialty Coffee

ST. LOUIS, MO, JUNE 15, 2026 — Today, St. Louis specialty coffee roaster Blueprint Coffee is announcing the release of its first dark roast coffee: Timespan.

Sourced with the same intentionality and traceability as all of Blueprint’s offerings, Timespan is more deeply caramelized to create a familiar, bold, and roasty flavor profile.

“Timespan bridges old and new: an older approach to highlighting roast characteristics in the cup while maintaining more modern ethics of sourcing and transparency,” offers Roastery Director Nora Brady. “With Timespan, we’re melding past and present eras of coffee to build a more inclusive future.”

Production Manager Mazi Razani explains that “some dark roast options on the market use roast level to mask the flaws inherent in lower quality coffees. Our approach is the opposite: we start with a high quality coffee that features muted acidity and plenty of sweetness.” The same coffee often appears on Blueprint’s single-origin menu or as part of their blends.

“To create Timespan, we intentionally lengthen the roast to more deeply caramelize the coffee’s natural sugars,” Razani continues. “The result is a smooth, rich, and full-bodied cup that reminds us of a fine dark chocolate bar.”

Today’s public release is years in the making: for the past two years, Timespan has been available exclusively through Trade, a coffee subscription service that partners with specialty roasters nationwide. With an overwhelmingly positive reception from Trade subscribers, Timespan has grown a loyal following. Customer feedback from Timespan’s earliest fans, as well as Blueprint’s own daily quality control cuppings, helped Blueprint hone and perfect their roasting approach.

“Timespan is one of our most challenging roasts — we’ve worked really hard to get it just right,” shares Razani. “A few seconds here or there could push the roast too far, creating unpleasant flavors that we want to avoid. We have to hit a bullseye: caramelizing the coffee more deeply to highlight its natural sweetness and body, while preserving the inherent structure and balance.”

Timespan makes a great introduction to specialty coffee, and it’s an excellent option for seasoned specialty fans looking for a bolder cup that’s smooth and easy to enjoy. The rich, sweet brew has deep notes of dark chocolate, toasted marshmallow, and almond.

Timespan is available now on Blueprint’s retail shelves, pour-over menu, and on their website for nationwide shipping.
