When it comes to sweets, the Hershey’s bar isn’t the first thing I’m looking to grab. I mean, it’s a hunk of milk chocolate, it’s fine. It’s a good start. Add some caramel and nuts maybe, now we’re talking. Melt it into a hot chocolate, I’m here for it. On it’s own though, it kinda just seems like the candy the feral kid from elementary school would grab, mostly because it’s the closest thing to straight sugar he could get.
But the Hershey’s bar is getting a rethink and is putting out a new line of chocolate bars that come with a creme filling. And one of the flavors is affogato.
Announced Tuesday, September 1st, the Hershey’s Creme Bars combine the traditional milk chocolate with a rich creme filling, and for their debut will come in two new flavors, salted caramel and of course affogato. At the center of the affogato bar is an espresso-flavored caramel and vanilla creme filling. Honestly, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the mix and what else could you possibly ask for?
Celebrating the launch, Hershey’s is teaming up with “global girl group KATSEYE for a new campaign that gives the group’s signature ‘Pinky Up’ gesture with a Hershey’s twist” for a commercial that “encourages consumers to turn the simple act of choosing a chocolate bar into an expression of individuality.” (How a manufactured girl group that is Los Angeles’s answer to K-Pop in any way relates to individuality I have no idea but I also recognize that my demographic not having any idea is maybe the whole point.)
LA-Pop aside, an affogato candy bar sounds lovely and I’m now back in on Hershey’s. They have exactly two months to get these things into fun-size form so that I can steal them from my kids’ Halloween haul. Luckily, the Hershey’s Creme Bars will come in both a 2.2oz standard bar as well as an 8.4oz snack size pouch. For more information, visit Hershey’s official website.
