Move over, Pantone, there’s a new Color of the Year in town. While the standardizing color system is trying to tell us that 2025 is the year of some dusty ass Mocha Mousse (though in fairness, how were they supposed to follow Peach Fuzz) there are others, thankfully, who have better ideas. One of them is Moccamaster. A true style icon, the Dutch coffee brewer manufacturer has proffered their own take on the Color of the Year, and it is oh so much better. Introducing the new Moccamaster KBGV in Ocean.
What a color. What a brewer. Officially released on March 1st, the 2025 Color of the Year Moccamaster offers a rich blue-green colorway to their most recognizable automatic brewer silhouette. They describe the color as representing “tranquility and stability” and that the “peaceful and cheerful blue color reflects the latest trends in kitchen aesthetics.” And of course it is all backed up by the high-quality, SCA-approved coffee brewing that is the actual reason the Moccamaster is so beloved.
The Color of the Year program started last year, with a limited-edition Apricot brewer (which looks very Peach Fuzz-y to me, back when these titans of color still agreed). And this year they’re going a little more bold with Ocean. Which is honestly good. The color marketplace needed a little more competition because Pantone was clearly asleep at the wheel this year. Mocha Mousse?! You throw a little purple in some brown and what, I’m expected to fall over myself? It’s not like it’ll even hide coffee stains, which are another shade of brown entirely. But you know what would make a punchy color combination with a coffee stain or two? Ocean. It’s form and function.
The new Moccamaster KBGV Select in Ocean retails for $359 and is available for purchase exclusively via the Moccamaster website and Williams Sonoma. For more information, visit Moccamaster’s official website.
