La Marzocco is hitting the road. Over the course of the summer, the espresso machine manufacturer is making stops across the United States for a series of throwdown, challenges, and community building. The 2023 Summer Tour kicked off earlier this month in Brooklyn and continues tonight with the second stop, at Overbluff Cellars in Spokane, Washington.
After a wildly successful inaugural event in Brooklyn, the five-stop series moves westward for more coffee good times. Like with the other installations in the Summer Tour, the Spokane event will revolve around the throwdown. Alongside event partners Minor Figures, the LM-hosted competition will be “random-draw” and include a few curveballs to keep the latte artists on their toes. At the Brooklyn event, for instance, competitors were judged not just on pouring acumen, but different rounds tested their ability to adapt to a variety of odd vessels—like a bell pepper—consistency in pouring the same design across sized beverages, and waste, with the winner being the person who produced the least amount of excess milk to create the given design.
Kicking off at 6:30pm, the Spokane event at Overbluff Cellars will also feature drinks and light bites, and members of the La Marzocco team will be on hand to answer any technical or equipment-related questions from attendees. As with all stops on the 2023 Summer Tour, tonight’s event is completely free to attend, and you can RSVP here.
Then, over the course of the next two months, La Marzocco will be making three more stops around the country. The remaining cities and dates are as follows:
