We're rocking double competitions today on Sprudge, and if you're looking for a little more competition than showcase, Glitter Cat's Digitition may be right up your alley. Featuring a brand new crop of 36 Glitter Kitties—including some familiar names—the Digitition will host six different contests, each representing a different WCC discipline: Barista, Brewers, Coffee& Booze, Cup Tasters, Latte Art, and Roasters.
Like with previous Glitter Cat efforts, all participants this year “identify as belonging to one or more marginalized communities including BIPOC, LGBTQIAP+, neurodivergent, disabled, and persons of marginalized gender,” per the press release. More than simply a competition, though, the Digitition continues Glitter Cat's mission to provide training folks generally underrepresented on the competition stage, and the list of trainers this year include nine total US Coffee Championship wins as well as one World-level Finalist. Per the press release, the trainers include: Andrea Allen (USBC, 2020), Sam Spillman (USBC, 2019), Lem Butler (USBC, 2016), Laila Ghambari (USBC, 2014), Kaley Gann (USBrC, 2019), Rose Woodard (USBrC, 2018), Matt Foster (USCIGS, 2019), Jen Apodaca (US Cup Tasters, 2019), and Shelby Williamson (US Roasters, 2019).
Over the course of a thee-week period beginning Monday, November 2nd, competitors will take to the Glitter Cat Instagram Live feed to show off their skills, with the winner being crowned the Sunday thereafter. Each week will host two different disciplines before the next set takes over after the winners have been announced. The Glitter Cat Digitition schedule is:
