Nick Cho will be reviving the Portafilter Podcast in 2011! Here’s an official statement from Nick Cho:

Dear Sprudge readers,

The Portafilter.net Podcast was born the summer of 2005. After 75 shows spanning over 100 total hours, the podcast became one of the most dynamic forces in the specialty coffee world, helping to mold and shape the international dialogue around the industry.

The last show was March of 2008.

Now, almost four years later, the Portafilter Podcast is back.

I’m a bit different from how I was at the beginning of 2008, hopefully a lot wiser, and in a different point in my coffee career. I’ll have a new co-host, to be revealed later. Suffice it to say, he (or she) is absolutely the perfect fit for the Portafilter Podcast. You’ll see!

So January 2011. Subscribe on iTunes. Follow us on Twitter. Fan us on Facebook. Read Sprudge.com. Call your mother and tell her you love her.

See you in 2011!

Portafilter Podcast premiered in 2005 with shows lasting from anywhere from an hour to two and half hours. Here’s Portafilter’s original iTunes summary:

The voice of Portafilter.net, a blog by and for coffee professionals. This podcast is a look inside the seedy world of the new generation of specialty coffee professionals: baristas, roasters, etc. If you’re a barista, coffee professional, or if you’re a coffee-lover who’s ready for the “red pill,” take a listen. Hosted by Nicholas Cho from “murky coffee,” Washington DC, and Jay Caragay from “Spro Coffee” in Towson, Maryland.

This kind of long-form discussion has been missing in our current Twitter-centric microblogging world and we’re excited to listen to great conversations between coffee professionals in 2011.
