In a world filled to the brim with really, really good coffee, there’s still time for tea. Yes, Sprudge is a coffee website, but we’ve got love for tea (we all remember Tea Week). Be it a hardcore raw pu’er to a thoughtfully sourced white tea, a rosy red rooibos to lively tisane, we’re here for all things camellia sinensis, and even those that, well actually, aren’t. That’s why we are more than just a bit jealous of the NYC ilk, who get to take part in a little Tea & Talk with Dona.
Taking place Tuesday, December 13th at The Elk coffee shop in Nolita, Tea & Talk with Dona is described as an “intimate tea tasting, talk, and workshop.” Led by the team at Dona—once known in specialty coffee circles for their chai concentrates, which they still have, but have expanded their line-up to include a host of well-curated teas and thoughtful herbal blends—the event will revolve around a tea cupping that will include “a sensory and educational experience introducing tea and tea blends sourced through direct trade from single-origin estates across the world.”
And because teas and botanicals are distinct things each deserving their own shine, they will be tasted separately at the event in order to better compare them and “understand the balance of blends and the delicate taste of Assam teas.”
Along with teas from Dona, light pastries meant to pair with the drinks will be provided by The Bakery on Bergen.
Tea & Talk with Dona occurs in two sessions, one at 11:00am and one at 4:00pm, with each event expected to last around two hours. Tickets for the event can be purchased via Eventbrite for $85 and come with a gift bundle from Dona. It all gets going Tuesday, December 13th at The Elk.
