Sprudge contributor Joanna Han recently spent a whirlwind fortnight in Scandinavia, visiting a wide variety of cool shops and reporting back to us with photos and notes. Her first feature highlighted Drop Coffee in Sweden, and today it’s a photo tour of Solberg & Hansen in Oslo.
The photos above begin with images of Solberg & Hansen, Mathallen, a kind of “concept” store that presents the brand’s coffees to the public in a controlled, high quality environment. S&H is actually Norway’s first roasting company, opened in 1879; the Mathallen concept store opened in Oslo’s Vulkan city center in 2012. They host all kinds of courses and events here, and sell a wide variety of coffee, tea, and brewing equipment. As an interesting aside, not a drop of milk is available at Solberg & Hansen, Mathallen; the focus is instead on raw ingredients, and the diversity of flavors naturally inherent to fine coffees and teas.
Later in the photo set we see some shots of S&H’s green storage and roast works, at their HQ in Oslo’s Ryen neighborhood. The last shot is of Ingri M. Johnsen, S&H’s sales and marketing consulting, pictured here in her natural habitat. We’ve previously worked with Ingri and her brother, Harald, throughout our coverage of MICE 2013 in Melbourne.
Check out Solberg & Hansen’s official website (in Norwegian) here for more information, and be sure to visit the concept shop next time you’re in Oslo. Just don’t barge in demanding a latte.
