Introducing Coffee Gear! A New Coffee Equipment Resource From Sprudge

difluid air difluid air

We here at Sprudge get asked all the time: what coffee gear should I buy? What’s the best suggestion for a cool home grinder, or a high-quality coffee scale, or an outstanding espresso machine? And what about the more esoteric pieces of coffee kit, like smoke difusers and wrist-savers and other assorted do-hickeys?

Well—there’s so much coffee gear on the market right now, it’s kind of hard to know where to start, but it’s perhaps unsurprising that today’s modern market for coffee gear feels like it ought to come with a decoder ring. We’re spoilt for choice, in a good way, but that can lead to analysis paralysis, in a bad way. Coffee gear is everywhere, but what’s right for you?

In some ways these questions remind us of similar queries we’ve received over the years around buying delicious coffee (because you’ll need delicious coffee to make something tasty in the first place). In 2023, as a way of responding to many requests for coffee buying recommendations, we launched a regularly occuring feature series on Sprudge called the Sprudge Roaster’s Village. Each weekend it features our curated selection of recommended coffees for purchase, with guidance from our many outstanding roasting partners. (A full list of Sprudge partners is available on the bottom right hand side of this, and every, published feature on Sprudge). It’s been a smash hit, and moreover, we find it delightful as a form of content, because it allows us to point you directly towards the very freshest and most thoughtful recommendations from some of the best coffee roasters in the world. We use it in conversation with friends and family and strangers and Lyft drivers and so forth when they ask us, “What coffee should I buy?”

Back to coffee gear. Here in 2025 we’ve quietly started offering something similar to our Roaster’s Village, but focused on the innovative and exciting coffee equipment that helps make coffee taste great. It’s called, simply, Coffee Gear!—with an exclamation point—and it’s a twice-monthly feature series that features the very best in coffee equipment from brands large and small across the industry, plus a permanent landing page with updated recommendations.

Twice a month we’ll turn to our partners for coffee gear recommendations they’re most excited about, serving up a curated series of some of the most interesting coffee gear offerings available from talented manufacturers across the globe. In this weekend’s edition you’ll find excellent equipment from brands like Acaia, Dwell Dripper, La Marzocco, Baratza, TIMEMORE, and Ceado, with more leading brands joining in the coming weeks. If you shopped every piece of gear from this weekend’s collection, you’d wind up with a killer home coffee set-up that included a grinder, a scale, a home espresso machine, and a nimble home brewing device, all from industry-leading brands.

We’re excited to watch this new program grow and evolve, and if you’re interested in learning more about the program, please get in touch. But most of all we love this project as a set of actionable solutions, an easily shareable set of qualified recommendations we can point towards friends and family members and strangers etc. Looking for somewhere to help you figure out coffee gear? Come join us on Coffee Gear!
