Introducing Hype Juice, a brand new wine-forward show on the Sprudge Podcast Network. Hype Juice is hosted by D. Stubblefield, a wine buyer and beverage professional based in Philadelphia. Stubblefield has worked in the beverage industry for the last decade and appeared on the Black Coffee PDX live podcast in April of 2018.
“In this podcast, I’ll be talking to people I admire in the wine industry—friends and colleagues—about what makes wine so exciting and why we all love it,” Stubblefield explains at the top of the show.
“If you’re new to wine,” Stubblefield continues, “we can explore this world together and learn along the way; if you’re already really into wine, we’ll be offering conversations that will challenge and expand how you think about your favorite beverage.”
Hype Juice intersects the worlds of wine and pop culture, diving deep into how wine interacts with modern life in 2021. This show dovetails with our regularly appearing wine coverage on Sprudge, part of the media network’s reporting purview since the summer of 2017. If you’re a coffee lover who also digs a splash—or part of our established @SprudgeWine audience—we hope this podcast will become your new favorite listen. And if you’re a company interested in sponsoring Hype Juice, or looking to advertise wine projects on Sprudge’s wine section, do get in touch.
In the first episode of Hype Juice, Stubblefield interviews No Free Refills host Ezra D. Baker, a career beverage professional and longtime friend who also happens to co-host (with Tymika Lawrence) the much-loved No Free Refills podcast, a fan favorite found elsewhere within the growing realm of the Sprudge Podcast Network.
Wines and Shops Mentioned In This Episode:
“When I saw that she had a wine, I was like, all right, if I’m going to put my money down for anybody, it’s obviously going to be Mary J. Blige. Mary J. Blige has given me so much in my personal life as a child. I was singing Real Love while skipping down the street. And I just figured I should show her some love. And then I tasted it and it actually—it’s actually really good. It’s not one of those wines you want to sit and think about and just dissect, it’s a nice, cute wine that you want to drink with your friends.” – D. Stubblefield
