Espresso Art: Some For Drink, Some For Ink

Espresso Art: Some For Drink, Some For Ink

Dirceu Veiga is a designer who lives and works in the Brazilian city of Curitiba. Though he designs graphics, icons and caricatures, his paintings made from 100% espresso in lieu of ink are what caught our attention. From his website, which you can access here:

Instead of traditional paint, I use only 100% coffee in his paintings. Understandably, as coffee is used as the as the primary material for the work, the colours are predominantly brown . . . and more brown.

However, by adding a dab of water here and there I manage to create a variety of different shades from the coffee and some of my work is rather remarkable, both in its beauty and sometimes its complexity.

This is actually beautiful. With only one colour it’s easier to pick out the variety and complexity of shades and tones. I bet his pictures also smell amazing! :D
