Morgan Eckroth is a coffee professional requiring no introduction and who is perhaps one of the rare few equally known outside of the industry as within in it. The 2022 World Barista Championship Runner-Up has amassed nearly nine million followers across Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, mostly non-industry folks, thanks to inviting—and often educational—approach to all things coffee content. And to all of her many accomplishments, including a recent Sprudgie Award for Best Coffee Writing, Eckroth can soon add published author to the list. This is thanks to the recently announced Coffee, for Here: The Ultimate Handbook for At-Home Coffee Enthusiasts, which is on pre-order now.
We’re big fans of coffee books here at Sprudge, over the years highlighting works from authors like 3fe’s Colin Harmon, Phyllis Johnson, Jessica Easto, Umeko Motoyoshi, Coffee Collective’s Klaus Thomsen, and of course James Hoffmann. We’re excited to see Eckroth take a turn at bringing her own approachable content to the page.
From publishing house Clarkson Potter, Coffee, for Here is “both a practical handbook and a guide to building real coffee skills at home, designed to help you brew with confidence and curiosity,” per the overview. Across the book’s 240 pages, Eckroth offers a little something for coffee enthusiasts of all skill level. From the basics about a coffee’s journey from seed to cup—including origin information and how coffee is grown, roasted, and tasted—to walkthroughs for the most popular pour-over methods and espresso fundamental, the book offers instructions, illustrations, and even QR codes linking to video walkthroughs.
From there, Eckroth pulls from her vast knowledge of drink construction to create 40 cafe-style drink recipes for users to experiment with. Things like a classic espresso tonic to more adventurous concoctions like a Limoncello made with papaya purée, lime juice, rose water, and espresso.
Coffee, for Here is scheduled for a October 20th release date, but pre-sales have already begun. Retailing for $28 for hardcover and $15 for ebook, pre-orders can be made via Eckroth’s website.
There are two things in this world there can never be enough of. Coffee of course, and books. For more information on Coffee, for Here: The Ultimate Handbook for At-Home Coffee Enthusiasts, visit Morgan Eckroth’s official website.
