Last year, Cafe Imports released a new docuseries, Ecos del Café: Narrativas de Productores Costarricenses (Echoes of Coffee: Narratives from Costa Rican Producers). In it, they told the stories of some of the Costa Rican farmers they have worked closely with over the years, including Alexander and Magali Delgado of Cerro San Luis Micromill and Diego Abarca Quiros of Alto San Juan Micromill.
And now Ecos del Café is back for Year Two to tell the stories of four more coffee producers in Costa Rica.
Year Two starts off with a bang, interviewing Francisca and Oscar Chacón of the famed Las Lajas Micromill. (If you’ve ever had a honey processed coffee, you have Las Lajas to thank for that.) Third generation coffee producers, the Chacóns discuss their holistic approach to farming and how they’ve had to adapt to the modern challenges facing them.
The Las Lajas episode of Ecos del Café was released earlier this month, and was accompanied by a bonus feature, Tales from the Source. In it, Cafe Imports founder Andrew reflects back on his first visit to Las Lajas in 2010 and give an outside perspective their evolution.
The second episode is scheduled to premier on June 18th and will feature Jhonnathan Camacho of Finca Desamparados. Subsequent episodes will then be released every two weeks.
All episodes of Ecos del Café: Narrativas de Productores Costarricenses, including Year One, are completely free to watch and can be found on Cafe Imports’ YouTube channel. For more information or to see a full schedule of features, visit Cafe Import’s official website.
