Finally, a reason to go to Target besides Alex from Target. I donโt even think he works there anymore anyway. I keep driving the 45 minutes to the Frisco, Texas Target where he works to โbuyโ five month-old Intelligentsiaย and hang out at the Starbucks just hoping to capture a glimpse of the muscly-armed bag boy, to no avail.
But it was announced out yesterday that Slingshot Coffee Co–the Raleigh, North Carolina-based makers of ready-to-drink single-origin cold brew and cascara teaโwill now be distributed in Target stores. Alex who?
Slingshot is having a moment right now. They were recently part of Long Distance Relationship, a bi-coastal collaboration with Stumptown Coffee Roasters that combined their cascara tea with the Portland-based roasterโs cold brew. And now the news about Target. The married duo behind Slingshot,ย Jenny and Jonathan Bonchakโboth accomplished Brewers Cup competitors in their own rightsโhave expanded their operations to include nearly 250 Target stores.
But before you get too excited, the participating locations are primarily along the Eastern seaboard–North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida, to be exact. But if you happen to be in one of those states, you can find both Slingshotโs single-origin cold brew as well as their cascara tea hitting the shelves of your local Target imminently.
Hopefully this is the first step toward Slingshot retailing their tasty ready-to-drink coffee drinks nationwide. Until then, I guess Iโll have to go to Target to โbuy coffee for my mother.โ
