The Fifth Anniversary party for Street Bean Espresso went down last Friday in Seattle, complete with fancy coffee drinks, competition baristas, and an appearance by Macklemore to support Street Bean’s mission of helping homeless and at-risk youth get off the streets with job training. You can read more about Street Bean and the work they do in our preview piece. We’re big fans of what they do–and not just because Ben Blake the cafe’s manager does illustrations for us. We’re also big fans of all these fancy signature drinks the baristas cooked up.
Local favorites Pure Éire Dairy and Theo Chocolate, La Marzocco and Baratza were partners for the event, and a number of great coffee people came out support and make coffee, including 2004 United States Barista Champion Bronwen Serna and 2015 Northwest Brewer’s Cup Champion Akaash Saini. Check out the awesome menu of signature drinks they came up with below.
Auld Man’s Coffee
Raw egg white
2oz heavy cream
Shake well and strain into coupe
Grate fresh cinnamon and nutmeg on top
Theo’s Chipotle Mocha
1 serving of Theo’s Chipotle Drinking Chocolate
Steamed to 140 degrees, poured into latte cup
5 ounces whole milk
1 oz. simple syrup
4 ounces iced flash brewed coffee
Shake well and partially strain into medium glassware, grating cinnamon on top
2 ounces espresso
3 ½ ounces heavy cream
½ oz. simple syrup
Shake well and strain into cocktail glass (or gibraltar).
