Readers of the North, get ready! The Canadian Aeropress Championship is happening this Saturday, May 28th at the Tool Shed Brewery in Calgary, Alberta. Hosted by Prairie Coffee Collective, this year’s event will feature 36 competitors—including last year’s champ and 2015 World Aeropress Championship runner-up Nick Hatch—trying to press their way to the title and a trip to Dublin to represent their motherland at next month’s World Aeropress Championship.
Originally meant to be a 27-person extravaganza, Prairie Coffee Collective had to include nine additional spots at the Canadian Aeropress Championship due to high levels of interest from those looking to compete. For those unable to be part of the lucky 36, admission is free (18+) and there will be food, coffee, and beer for the taking. And there will be a silent auction with prizes like Baratza Forte BG grinder, a Behmor home roaster, and even a hand carved wooden canoe!
The show gets started at 2:00pm local time, so get there early and be ready for a day chock full of impressive coffee brewing!
