The Best of the Best: The 2014 Good Food Award Winners Buying Guide

The 4th annual Good Food Awards were awarded last night in a ceremony at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco, and Sprudge was there to bring you on the ground coverage, and bask in the glow of New York Times food writer Ruth Reichl and Alice “Alice” Waters as they gave awards to each of the 14 winners in the coffee category.

These coffees are the best of the best, chosen from more than 50 initial entrants from roasters in every state in the US, which were then whittled down to 26 finalists. But if you’re just looking to drink some certified #deloshes coffee, we’ve put together this handy buying guide below.

We’ve split this buying guide up by region, with links to the available coffees where applicable. Many of these coffees are fantastically small micro-lots, which unfortunately means that some of them are no longer available for sale. But it’s that limited, seasonal availability that makes specialty coffees so special! For the coffees that are still available, you can simply click through to purchase these fine coffees directly from their respective roasters — roasters who can justifiably be called at the very top of their game.

You can also find these coffee roasters and their prize winning coffees, along with winners from all categories, at the Good Food Awards Marketplace tomorrow January 18th. The Bay Area startup Blossom will be on hand to brew coffees from the Blossom One brewer. Early access tickets are available here. The Marketplace will be open to the general public from 9am-2pm at the Ferry Building in San Francisco. Tickets will be sold on-site for $5.
