Terror In The Skies: Mid-Flight Coffee Explosions – Is It Safe To Fly?

Falling short of full-on recall, the FAA is warning employees and passengers on flights serving coffee (i.e. EVERY FLIGHT) to be on alert for exploding filter packages. NBC has more:

A safety alert issued by the Federal Aviation Administration last week warns that several airlines and flight attendants have reported coffee filter packages bursting in-flight, causing first and second degree burns to crew members and bystanders.

That all sounds terrible. Next time you’re in the air, ease your mind by ordering up a nice mug of “Grandma’s Coffee”, the new Whiskey and iced cappuccino concoction from Virgin Atlantic. Because apparently Grandma was a diabetic drunk.
