Heartwood Coffee
Bolivia Finca Rosita Java

Finca Rosita covers 32 hectares, solely dedicated to coffee cultivation. The farm is named in honor of the family matriarch, Rosa Angelica Aramayo. What differentiates Bolivian coffees from other growing regions is The uniqueness of the Andean terrain. During harvest season, producers are working around the clock to sell cherry and transport it to collection stations within Caranavi. Java is a selection from an Ethiopian landrace population called Abysinia. It was introduced to Costa Rica in 1991 to provide options for smallholders using low inputs. As indicated by the name, the variety was introduced to the island of Java directly from Ethiopia by the Dutch in the early 19th century. (WCR)

Sightglass Coffee
Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice is thoughtfully crafted to capture the carefree spirit of the season. We source two expressive coffees—one bright and floral, the other deep and fruit-forward—and blend them to create something layered, juicy, and undeniably summery. From the high elevations of Ethiopia’s Yirgacheffe region to the rolling hills of Huye, Rwanda, these coffees bring out the best in each other. Washed and natural processes add both clarity and complexity, while the final cup brims with tropical fruit, delicate florals, and sun-ripened sweetness. Whether you’re enjoying it over ice or as your first hot cup of the day, Summer Solstice is your invitation to pause, sip, and soak it all in.

Madcap Coffee
Juliana Guevara Java

While attending a conference in Armenia Quindío, Colombia, we were fortunate enough to meet Juliana Guevara. While we didn’t know it at that moment, we had cupped 2 of Juliana’s coffees days prior in Bogotá over a spread of several large tables, and they left their mark. Nestled in between long days of cupping beautiful coffee, Juliana presented at the helm of a producer-led panel, advocating for awareness about the need to amplify women’s voices in the industry, retaining youths as the next generation of coffee producers, and making a case for climate change activism. Carrying with her a strong voice for engaging in social improvement projects with coffee serving as the conduit, Juliana’s conviction to develop community growth is inspiring to say the least. We are proud to release our second of two variety separations from Finca La Terraza, the stunning Java. Cherries are immediately depulped and placed in plastic tanks with cold water for 84-90 hours to avoid heating up which allows for longer fermentation. Afterwards they are washed twice with cold water and agitated to remove mucilage. Coffee is then dried in thin layers with ample ventilation and constant agitation to ensure even, consistent drying for 5-8 days. Once the lot has reached roughly 30% moisture, coffee is bunched into thicker layers to slow down the drying speed for another 20 days until it is ready for final evaluation before export. In Juliana’s Java separation, enjoy notes of juicy key lime, lemongrass, and cantaloupe.

THE BARN
Radiophare

This week, we are excited to share the Indonesian coffee that changed our perceptions: Radiophare is back. Building on a 300-year history of coffee production, new producers and cooperatives in Indonesia are delivering flavour profiles that are totally unique. From the Sunda region of Java, this naturally processed lot offers bold, tropical flavour. Processing balanced naturals is difficult in Indonesia due to the humidity, but Radiophare is a true stand out. In the cup, expect velvety sweetness and vibrant fruit – like passion fruit gelato.

PERC
Colombia Linarco Rodriguez Pink Bourbon

Y’all – this coffee is a banger. We just finished cupping it, and I’m already writing this entry. We typically have a sourcing line-up we follow, and technically, we did not need another coffee, but this one was too dang good to pass up. We love it because even though it’s an anaerobic, it just tastes like a really, really good natural. It’s like the ripest, sweetest strawberries took a bath in strawberry yogurt and honey.

PERC Colombia Linarco Rodriquez Sprudge Roaster's Village $29/12oz

Phil & Sebastian
Lilac Dream (Catuaí – Hacienda Santa Gertrudis)

Lilac Dream is one of our most delicate coffees. It carries a tea-like texture, stone fruit sweetness, underlying florals, and orange juiciness. While the coffees behind the name will change, the flavour profile remains a guiding thread. These will mostly be washed coffees from East Africa, but expect a few surprises from other countries that offer this flavour profile. If you’re drawn to this style of coffee, you’ll feel right at home here.
The coffee in Lilac Dream right now comes from one of Ecuador’s top coffee producers: Jose Luis Eguiguren from Hacienda Santa Gertrudis. It’s a yellow catuaí that’s the most elegant and delicate version of a catuai l have ever tasted.

Night Swim Coffee
Nano Genji #6

We’re more thrilled than ever to offer a lot from Nano Genji – our first time buying from the co-op. Nano Genji is a part of the Kata Muduga Union, a union of 39 co-ops and washing stations that focus on quality coffees and paying dividends directly to the Union members. Nano Genji is the sibling mill to the famed Nano Challa mill, featured on our menu last year. Historically one of the most coveted coffees in all of Western Ethiopia, Nano Challa membership did such an amazing job with production and processing that the tremendous premiums they were receiving caused their membership to swell to a level that pushed their capacity as far as it could go. In 2021, they opened Nano Genji a few miles away with brand new Penagos equipment along with dozens of drying beds to accommodate their growing membership. With 630 members between the two washing stations, they’re looking forward to continued growth and success. This lot, #6, from Nano Genji is bright and refreshing, with bold citrus and fruity notes that instantly remind us of cherry-limeade from Sonic or peach green tea on a warm spring/summer day.

As a second generation coffee grower, daughter Andrea Rubí helped to usher in a new era for her family—launching them into specialty coffee as the culmination of two decades of farming heritage.
