Saint Frank Coffee and Ritual Coffee Roasters are teaming up to present a series of events this week with coffee producers from Costa Rica, Colombia, and El Salvador.
Tonight, April 29th, Saint Frank will host exporter Francisco Mena of Exclusive Coffees in Costa Rica along with producers from the Helsar micromill (pictured below with Ritual Roasters owner Eileen Hassi, second from right).
“I just visited Francisco Mena at Exclusive for our new Costas,” Saint Frank owner Kevin Bohlin told us. “We are doing beer and coffee cocktails with the producer presentations and fresh crop samples.” The event will explore the positive impact of the rise of micro-mills in Costa Rica, documented elsewhere in these pages.
On this coming Thursday night, May 1, Saint Frank will host the exporters of Virmax, responsible for award winning coffees out of Colombia. And then on Tuesday, May 6th, Saint Frank will host a third presentation, titled “The Future of Coffee In El Salvador” and hosted by Emilio Lopez Diaz of Cuatro M Cafes in El Salvador. He’s the producer behind United States Barista Champion Laila Ghambari’s winning coffee, from the El Manzano farm, and guests will have the opportunity to try coffees from there throughout the weekend.
All three events are free and open to the public, with beer provided by Speakeasy and Trumer and coffee cocktails courtesy of East Bay Spice Company. The three-part series begins tonight, 7PM at Saint Frank on 2340 Polk St in San Francisco.
