On Friday, May 3rd we’ll be joining our friends and partners at Cafe Imports in Minneapolis to help them break in their brand new space: MPLS Coffee Mill, an education center, training lab, and coffee wonderland located on-site at the Cafe Imports HQ. MPLS Coffee Mill will home to an ongoing series of classes, events, and other cool stuff, including Q certifications and a new three-day educational series produced in-house by CI’s team of educators and experts.

This grand opening party happens from 6 to 10pm at the aforementioned Cafe Imports HQ (2617 East Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis). Attendees can expect a properly extracted Minneapolis dose of hospitality by way of beer by Indeed Brewing, foodstuffs from Victory 44 and Gastrotruck, plus coffees sourced from Café Imports top-shelf green stash and roasted by Imports’ own Joe Marrocco.

A sure-to-be-epic latte art throwdown kicks off at 8pm that night, and will be set to a soundtrack of battle raps and Minneapolis synth-funk provided by DJ Sprudge. Folks will have a chance to learn more about the upcoming educational opportunities being offered at MPLS Coffee Mill, including a 3 day program they’re calling “Source, Craft, and Serve” that covers the spectrum from green grading and cupping to production roasting, barista training and education. These classes begin in June.

Our friends at Cafe Imports describe their new space as “a playground”, and we can’t wait to get there, take off our shoes, and goof off on the monkey bars. Nobody throws a party like Cafe Imports and the city of Minnesota. Our Husker Brew event there last Fall remains a career highlight of fun for Your Sprudge Editors, and we’re stoked to be headed back to see our friends in the Twin Cities – and finally get a chance to visit Parka!
