A major recall of ready-to-drink beverages has touched the specialty coffee industry. Lyons Magnus, a packaged beverages manufacturer who white labels for a variety of drinks companies, recently issued a voluntary recall of 53 different products. Stumptown, Intelligentsia, and Oatly were all part of it.

Issued Thursday, July 28th, the voluntary recall “due to the potential for microbial contamination, including from the organism Cronobacter sakazakii,” per the company’s statement found on the Food and Drug Administration’s website. You may not have ever heard of Cronobacter sakazakii before, but you’ve certainly heard about it; the recent recall of powdered infant formula that severely limited the US supply was the result of the bacteria and was linked to at least two infant deaths, per Consumer Reports. Common symptoms of this bacterial-related illness include fever, vomiting, and urinary-tract infection. To date, no illnesses have been reported from the recalled items.

The recall includes a host of coffee beverages, some that may potentially impact cafes. Along with five RTD Stumptown Cold Brew Coffee beverages and two from Intelligentsia, Oatly’s Barista Edition Oat Milk cartons (delivered via food service channels, so to cafes essentially) are part of the recall. This could bring about an oat milk shortage reminiscent of the one from a few years back, and other alternative milk manufacturers may not be equipped to meet the sudden spike in demand. Also included in the recall was Lyons’ own Barista Style line of almond, coconut, and oat milk alternatives.

The list of effected coffee products are as follows:
