Jamison Savage is one of the hottest names in ultra high-end coffee farming right now. On his Panamanian farm Finca Deborah, Savage produces Gesha variety coffees that are favorites of World Barista Championship competitors, including both this year’s winner and runner-up, Indonesia’s Mikael Jasin and Australia’s Jack Simpson, respectively.

Along with growing coffee, Jamison and wife Leslie operate Savage Coffees, a roastery that offers their own personal take on their Panamanian coffees. And now, that roasting company is opening their first cafe, in the United States no less, with the first retail location for Savage Coffees in St. Petersburg, Florida.

As reported by Patch, the new space will be on the ground floor of The Nolen, a 23-story luxury condo in downtown St. Pete. Expected to open in early 2025, it is technically the second Savage location in the city, after their US-based roastery a few miles away.

“It is with great pleasure that I’m able to announce the first Savage Coffees Café, located in downtown St. Petersburg at The Nolen, one of St. Petersburg’s latest, most exclusive residential buildings,” Jamison said. “Sharing our fine coffees with the St. Pete community is something we’ve wanted to do for some time and The Nolen is the perfect location.”

Though the Savage name is more associated with Finca Deborah, and thus ultra-rare Geshas, Savage Coffees offers a wider range of varieties and price points for drinkers of all ilk. If the current selection is any indication, the cafe and retail space will include many Geshas, yes, but there will also be Panamanian Bourbons and Caturras as well as a variety of processing methods, from the more traditional washed and natural to the experimental carbonic macerated and anaerobic fermented. They also offer pods and instant coffees.

Not much is known about the build-out of the new Savage Coffees location, save for a few renderings (that may or may not have been made in The Sims or Espresso Tycoon maybe?), but based on the brand’s pedigree and location selection, it appears to be aiming for a purposefully luxury experience.
