Rancilio has been one of the biggest names in the home coffeemaking space for well over a decade now. The pairing of their Silvia espresso machine and Rocky grinder were for many years the standard issue for the home espresso enthusiast. The market has expanded quite a bit in the past 15 years, but Rancilio remains a main player. And they are bolstering their position even further with the announcement of their brand new, all-around grinder, the Stile.
Hinted at for the past week and officially announced Tuesday, November 15th, the Stile is in many ways the next evolution of the tried-and-true Rocky, giving the Rancilio favorite some major upgrades and new tech. Both grinders use steel flat burrs for their pan-grinding capabilities—touting the ability to go from espresso to French press—but with the Stile Rancilio is going bigger, increasing the size from 50mm to 58mm. The rectangular profile has also been ported over, though with an overall more modern feel.
The most noticeable upgrade comes from the tech, via a large touchscreen control panel on the front. With the digital addition, users can program and save up to three presets, making switching between espresso and Chemex a breeze. The Stile also allows for timed dosing for espresso making. With a 300g hopper, the Stile clocks in at a very user-friendly sub-10 pounds, with a slim countertop footprint under 6”.
According to the press release, the Stile will be available for purchase “soon” via distributor 1st Line Equipment in the US and will come in both black and white colorways. Per their website, Rancilio’s latest home grinder will retail for $650.
