Coffee Origins Trip 2: Field Study Across Ethiopia’s Arabica Heartlands
The second Coffee Origins Trip (COT 2) brings roasters, buyers, researchers, and sustainability professionals into Ethiopia’s most influential Arabica-growing regions for a week of research-focused fieldwork. The program explores climate resilience, wild genetic diversity, processing innovations, and traceability within Ethiopia’s smallholder systems. Participants will travel through Arsi, Bale, Sidama, Guji, Gedeo, and West Arsi for forest-site visits, processing-station tours, cuppings, and cultural events such as the Buna Qalaa ceremony. The trip concludes with a roundtable on long-term supply stability and collaborative resilience financing.
