Considered by many to be a key founder of the third wave coffee movement, Sorenson began Stumptown in Portland, Oregon in 1999, selling for an undisclosed sum to Peet’s Coffee & Tea in 2015. Sorenson has over 30 years of experience as a barista, roaster, green coffee buyer, and creative director.

“Duane is single-handedly the most creative and forward-thinking coffee professional in the world,” says ST. ALi’s owner Salvatore Malatesta. “Duane has graciously agreed to come on board as Global Creative Director and will work across all facets of the business from ensuring our green bean sourcing remains best in category, to new territories and much more.”

Sorenson says he is excited to join ST. ALi and “continue to make dreams come true.”
