Houston’s David Buehrer and Ecky Prabanto are back at it again. The pair behind Houston’s excellent Blacksmith and Morningstar (which is perhaps my favorite cafe to have opened in the past year) has announced their third project, Prelude Coffee & Tea. According to Houston Food Finder, the new cafe is expected to open in the downtown area in May of this year.

Based upon the article, Prelude appears to veer from its predecessors; it won’t have the ambitious food menu created by chef-in-residence Priscilla Nguyen that both Blacksmith and Morningstar are known for. Prelude will be more coffee-centric. But Houston Food Finder states that there will still be some carryover from Buehrer and Prabanto’s previous cafes. A matcha tea program similar to that of Morningstar’s will make its way to the new downtown location, and donuts and pastries will also be delivered fresh daily from Morningstar.

More information about the new cafe will be forthcoming over the course of the next few months, and you better believe Sprudge will be taking a field trip to Houston once it comes closer to time for Prelude to open. Another round of Morningstar’s crispy rice and Moneycat Potatoes are long overdue.
